Top 10 Polaris RZR Pro R Upgrades
Polaris got a lot right with the RZR Pro R straight from the factory. There's still room to make it safer, more capable and more comfortable. These are the 10 upgrades we'd do first on a 2- or 4-seat Pro R, roughly in the order we'd do them.
1. Skid plate and underbody protection
The Pro R's belly takes every rock you misjudge. A Factory UTV UHMW skid plate (3/8" or 1/2" thick) protects the chassis and slides over obstacles instead of catching. Add UHMW A-arm guards and rock sliders to cover the rest of the underside.
2. Harnesses
Factory belts aren't designed to hold you in place over whoops and rough ground. A 5-point harness like the PRP 5.3 Cam-Lock keeps you planted, reduces fatigue and makes the car feel more connected. More on that in why you should upgrade your harnesses.
3. Communications
An intercom lets you talk to your passenger without shouting over the engine. A two-way radio keeps the whole group connected. The PCI Rocker Intercom fits a standard rocker switch slot, includes Bluetooth for music and phone, and adds a radio to stay in touch with the group.
4. Lighting
Factory headlights aren't built for desert speed after dark. Start with a Baja Designs light bar or A-pillar kit for reach. Add a Pro R RTL kit so riders behind you can see you in the dust. See how to plan a lighting setup.
5. Front bumper
A stronger bumper protects the nose and gives you solid mounting points for lights. Choose the DRT front winch bumper if you plan to add a winch, or the CageWrx Pro R / Turbo R front bumper for a clean, light-ready front end.
6. Door bags
Pro R storage is tight. PRP front door bags with knee pads put tools, water and snacks within reach and add padding where your knees meet the door. More on that in why we like PRP door bags.
7. Dash and switch mounts
Radios, switch panels and GPS units need a clean home. StayFlush billet dash mounts put them in the dash for an OEM-plus look, instead of hanging them off the cage.
8. Mud flaps
Roost and rocks thrown by the rear tires chew up trailing arms and brake parts. The DRT billet aluminum extended mud flap kit puts a longer, wider flap behind each rear wheel.
9. Exhaust
The Trinity Racing Pro R slip-on exhaust uses hand-built stainless steel mufflers for a deeper sound and a finished look out back.
10. Wheels and tires
